Wild Tykes is designed to connect children to nature and provide activities that support physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Program Information

GENERAL SCHEDULING INFORMATION:
Wild Tykes is an outdoor early childhood program that runs on select Sundays and Thursdays from 9:00am-10:00am. Each month of Wild Tykes will have a new theme and different activities. This program is recommended for children aged 3-5 years old and their favorite adult. Wild Tykes takes place in the spring and fall.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Wild Tykes is held rain or shine. The Virginia Zoo reserves the right to cancel or change any program. In the event that we cancel your program, a full refund will be issued and individuals will be contacted directly. If you should wish to cancel your registration in this program, cancellation must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the program to receive a partial refund of 80%. No refunds will be given for programs cancelled less than 7 days before the scheduled date of the program.

Family Programs

Members Wild Tykes

Taking the best parts of Zoo Tykes, our early-childhood program, and Running Wild, our nature play program, WILD TYKES is a new program recommended for kids aged 3-5 and their favorite adults! Each program will feature age-appropriate nature and science activities that focus on these core areas: sensory, movement, free play, art, and problem-solving. We won’t be afraid to get a little dirty as we explore and play together!

Even better, each Wild Tykes program will now be paired with our fan-favorite storytime program, Zoo Tales!
